The Mono Lake, which is tenth on the world’s weirdest landscapes, is made up of unusually shaped limestone pinnacles known as tufa towers. What makes this one of the weird landscapes of the world is that normaly these limestone pinnacles only grow deep in the ocean. The Mono Lake has no access to the sea. Also the water of the lake is thick with an oily feel in your hands. Weird.

The Spotted Lake for example has different spots within its waters, thanks to an extremely high concentration of various chemical components with magnesium sulphate being the most predominant mineral that could be found. The spots vary in color too ranging from pale yellow to green, white to blue.

The Chocolate hills change color from green to brown at the turn of the season. The entire area in which the hills are located are a UNESCO heritage site and a popular tourist destination in Philippine. The origins of these hills estimated to be millions of years old, remains a complete mystery.

Located in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, the Midway Geyser Basin is a popular tourist destination. Spanning an area 11 miles the basin erupts over 4000 gallons of water every few minutes. Thanks to the high water temperature and chrolophyll around the geyser, the colors vary including green, blue, red and white.
