In 1940, the war was upon our world once again. Europe was already fighting but Nazi terror was on a victorious wave at that time. Charlie Chaplin decided to challenge it and fight Nazism with his own weapon – a humor. The role of a dictator Adenoid Hynckel, the parody of Adolf Hitler, became of his most famous. „The Great Dictator“ is rightfully in this list of ROFL comedy movie as some scenes are hilarious but don´t forget that the message of this movie is much more serious.

People usually have a love or hate relationship with Jim Carrey´s movies. We have chosen Liar, Liar to be on this list despite there are far better movies with him like Truman Show or Bruce Almighty. There are also more famous movies, especially Ace Ventura: The Pet Detective. But as this list is about ROFL comedies, it is the Liar, Liar which due to our opinion meets the definition of this genre the most.

In 1999, a famous group of kids from South Park, Colorado made it from TV to the big screen. As all of those in this list, this movie became kind of a classic. We all remember the US war with Canada, Satan´s love games with Saddam Hussein or songs like „Blame Canada“. The show is still here with us at TV, but the time around the release of „Bigger, Longer, Uncut“ was the real peak of the popularity of Kyle, Stan, Cartman and Kenny.

Because of the shortage of policemen, the academy is forced to dramatically lower its demands for new recruits. As a result, academy´s command must turn the most unlikely group of loonies, troublemakers, small criminals and weaklings to the good cops. A nice guy Carey Mahoney, the hulk Hightower, beautiful Karen Thompson, a weapon junkie Tuckleberry, a human beatbox Jones, commandant Lassard and many others became more than famous and started the whole franchise. Police Academy is a perfect example of good ROFL comedy movies.

We can´t help but the plot of this movie is brilliant. Constant repeating of one single day in a hick town of Punxsutawney forces an arrogant TV weather anchor Phil to think deeply about his life. And as it should be, Phil´s curse ends when he finally understands the real values in life. Sometimes it seems that Bill Murray completely stole the show but we should give a big credit also to Harold Ramis, another 80s comedy genius.
4. Some Like it Hot (1959)

If you want to know why the France is considered to be the comedy superpower you have plenty of options to find out – any of the 70s or 80s comedies with Jean-Paul Belmondo, Louis De Funes or Pierre Richard will do the job. And then there are also The Visitors, a great comedy with Jean Reno and Christian Clavier in roles of the noble medieval knight and his sly servant who accidentally end in the 20th century, which is just screamingly funny. And yes, there is also a version specifically made for the US theaters which takes place in Chicago, but to be honest, the original one is far better and is rightfully in our list of the best of all time comedy movies.
